MEETING WITH THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND YOUTH OF GEORGIA
On June 3, 2025, the working group of the DUGEOR project, responsible for amendments to the Law on Higher Education of Georgia, held a meeting with Dr. Tamar Ghvamichava, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia. Lasha Margishvili, Deputy Director at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia, Maya Shukhoshvili, Ketevan Panchulidze, Professor Vano Tsertsvadze, and Professor Marijana Mladenov attended the meeting.
In the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Marijana Mladenov emphasized the importance of Work Package 4: Creation of Legal and Strategic Framework for Implementation of Dual Higher Education from the perspective of the project’s overall goal. Furthermore, she specifically acknowledged that the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia are providing significant contributions to this Work Package. After the introductory presentation, Maya Shukhoshvili presented a draft version of the amendments to the Law on Higher Education, focusing on the importance of adequate legislation in the field of dual education. The discussion primarily focused on establishing an appropriate legal framework for implementing the dual education model in the Georgian higher education system. In addition, Lasha Margishvili outlined current accreditation standards relevant to dual programs, providing insight into the necessary regulatory framework.
The meeting symbolizes the strategic partnership necessary for the successful implementation of reforms that will improve the quality and relevance of dual education in the higher education system in Georgia.
